The Swedish have got it right.I have been to Sweden and there is no shopping mania there-precious few shops. Now IKEA is screening a 3 minute cartoon ad on the theme of house price greed in UK Cinemas . I cant remember a lot of it(so much for advertising!)but it makes some points illustrated by a cartoon of houses, pink flowers etc. It has a dialogue that goes roughly along the lines of "You could buy a big house...and make a lot of money...but then you wouldnt be happy....for that is greed...and greedy people dont get a home they get a gamble.....because money doesnt buy a home....etc...Though its a simple cartoon making simple points its quite powerful in its effect as it sums up what a lot of people really feel. Its was being screened at Vue Cinemas about a month ago now.It sent a shudder down my back and I thought-hey at last a Corporation with common sense!

| I first saw a huge front paged cover over the metro covering Ikea's 'campaign'. Its got nothing to do with with social responsibility its all to do with the fact that they want people to treat houses as homes rather than as investments so they buy Ikea furniture products! |

Well done Bobed!Perhaps IKEA would like to give permission for Priced Out tom use frames from their ad as a Poster/Logo?Seems as good as any? Furniture sellers must realise that many people in The UK are being forced ionto little furnished cramped places and the idea even of having any "furniture"is quite ludicrous!

| I'm not sure that Priced Out brought to you by the good people at Ikea is really the image we are looking for. Ikea's slogan was something like 'Make Houses Homes', I.e make it look nice and buy furnature, pictures and goodknows whatever else they sell! Lazen I can't believed you were sucked in by their cunning marketing ploy |
