More families struggle to make ends meet The number of families struggling to make ends meet has increased substantially with only half now considering their financial situation to be comfortable, a new report says. By Graham Tibbetts Last Updated: 11:47PM BST 22 Jul 2008 It found that the amount of people who regard themselves as "comfortably off or managing easily" dropped from 64 per cent in 2006 to around half this year. At the same time those who described their circumstances as "pretty tight" jumped from 25 per cent to 39 per cent, according to the survey of 1,927 adults for Mintel. 'Hanover Finance'...the credit company which up until a short time ago boasted adverts on TV saying, "The New Zealand business with the size and strength to withstand ANY conditions." How arrogant is that ? as they'd already seen tens of large NZ financial institutions go belly up, some paying back 'investors' only 19 cents in the dollar. Unless I missed something, the lyrics of my soundtrack were more politically cutting... ;) I don't remember seeing any adverts for Hannover Finance - but I do remember the "flying pigs" advert for Zurich just before serious problems were uncovered that lead all the way to the boardroom. That was funny.
