Many of our MPs have fiddles expenses e.g. mortgages that did not exist etc... and they will happily take money. The question is did they take bribes?

In my opinion, stopping MPs from becoming taxpayer subsidised "second home" property speculators would help a lot. The vested interests in property has lead to a conflict of interests. This IS almost as bad as taking bribes. A fixed salary for London based MPs and an additional amount for MPs with constituencies outside of London. Something like a certain amount extra per mile outside the M25. That would simplify the accounting and reduce the amount of taxpayer funded property.

Taxpayers have paid £45,000 to refurbish the apartment of the speaker of the house of commons.   "It's nice work if you can get it", as the saying goes.
