On the Treadmill

Priced Out are pleased to have been contacted by Dr John Bone and Dr Karen O'Reilly of the University of Aberdeen regarding a new sociological study "On the Treadmill". The study is researching the effect that unprecedented house price increases will have on the current group of 18-40 year olds in the UK.

Needless to say this is a great opportunity for Priced Out members to have their voices and opinions heard in a wider context. So we are urging everyone to make themselves known, and to share any views or experiences on this subject, by filling in the simple contact form at the bottom of this page.
Details on the Study
"We are researchers at the School of Social Sciences, University of Aberdeen and we are currently piloting a study exploring the current and potential prospects facing the current cohort of 18-40 year olds in the UK."

"What we’re specifically interested in is the way in which the combined impact of labour market ‘modernisation’ - i.e. insecure employment, low pay and benefits - together with increased debt and unprecedented house price increases, are affecting younger people’s life chances, well being, relationships and ability to form secure and stable households. The purpose of the study is to gather a broad range of data reflecting various views and experiences in relation to these developments as a means of assessing their present impact and, given our current understanding, their potential to generate inequality, injustice, social polarization and a range of associated social problems in the foreseeable future."

"If you would like to be involved in our study, or have some view or experience in relation to the above that you would like to contribute, the project web page is http://www.abdn.ac.uk/sociology/onthetreadmill/ and our email address is soc231@abdn.ac.uk"
