How it works

We compare a typical home price in 1995 (uprated for CPIH inflation) with its 2020 price, using ONS House Price Statistics for Small Areas (Dataset 9). Rent medians come from the Urban Big Data Centre (Zoopla, 2016). Coverage is England and Wales. The City of London is excluded — it lacks the housing-type breakdown needed for the comparison.
